Outdoor cinema with a twist heading to the heart of Culcheth

Oct 22, 2023

AN outdoor cinema with a twist is coming to the heart of Culcheth this week.

The Daten, off Charnock Road, is hosting the event on Friday evening, May 19, and it will feature two different showings.

Boasting a 'massive LED screen,' the event will show two feature films; one for younger viewers and families, and one for other guests to enjoy.

The twist? It's a 'silent cinema.'

A 'silent cinema' is a similar concept to a 'silent disco' in that the audio for the event is not pumped through speakers, but through headphones to each person who attends.

This means that the event at the Daten will not generate lots of noise into the night, and is also a fun twist for those who wish to attend.

The showings on offer at the Daten on Friday evening are Disney's Encanto and the classic '80s hit Dirty Dancing.

As per the event's online page, the first showing will be Encanto and that will kick off at 6.30pm, which will be followed by the showing of Dirty Dancing at 8pm.

The tickets for the event cost £5, with the Daten saying: "We provide: a massive LED screen, headphones, [and a] great film.

"You bring: a camping chair or picnic blanket."

It should be noted that under-16s must be accompanied by an adult, and only food and drink bought at the club can be consumed during the showing - which is lucky, because the Daten's kitchen is fully up and running.
