Legendary Music Producer Clive Davis Installs Samsung’s ‘The Wall’ to Create a One

Jul 18, 2023

Clive Davis, the iconic, award-winning record producer known for launching the careers of Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Janis Joplin, and more, chose Samsung to help transform his Westchester, New York home theater into a world-class cinematic experience. Once a standard home theater with an outdated projector, Davis worked with Samsung to modernize the room, which is now equipped with a 4K display that delivers an awe-inspiring visual experience – from movies, concerts to sports in a completely immersive environment. The once behind-the-times home theater is now a visual experience Davis is proud to share with his guests.

Davis uses his new video wall in his home theater often and says the results exceeded his expectations. He shared, "I use it every weekend. The results are spectacular, high definition, clarity, and tremendous advantages over the system that was here before. On nights when I have a big party, people crowd in, and I’ve had as many as 80 people in the theater. It is special."

Architechnology Designs, a trusted AV specialist known for executive and celebrity, chose Samsung's award-winning iconic The Wall because of its large format microLED display and 4K picture with quality HDR10+ delivers with two times superior color purity and a wider color gamut than conventional LED displays. Primarily used to entertain A-list guests and screen immersive content in the comfort of his home.

"Prior to the transformation, Davis’ home was equipped with an antiquated home theater projection system that was not working properly, was consistently unreliable and extremely slow to start up", said Wollleben. "Several actions had to be performed for the projector screen to come down, which took nearly 20 minutes before Davis could start watching a movie." The image quality also suffered with the lack of true deep blacks and vivid color. Short, high-contrast images reflected on the screen when light entered the room, making it difficult to live up to today's standards.

Architechnology Designs installed Samsung's The Wall, an enormous 146″ display that boasts an .84 mm pixel pitch, meaning it provides top-of-the-range picture quality and improved resolution for viewers. The frame prevents any gaps in the picture and simplifies the installation process.

The Wall's sleek design and thin profile creates more room for seating, where once bulky fans and external operating systems were located. Its ultra-low reflection black technology also delivers unparalleled contrast and detail, boasting two times superior color purity and a wider color gamut than conventional LED displays. Optimum peak brightness and ultra-accurate grayscale expression solves the exterior light problem, providing a completely immersive, theater-grade experience for Davis and his guests.

The Wall's ease of operation makes it an attractive solution to the luxury home LED market. For Davis, it provides the kind of customized, over-the-top experience his guests expect with an easy to navigate interface that allows him to easily turn the display on and off with the touch of a button.

"With the customizable display options available today, there is no longer a one size fits all approach when it comes to defining an entertainment space," said Harry Patz Jr., Senior Vice President and General Manager, Display Division, Samsung Electronics America. "Samsung's The Wall provides a sophisticated centerpiece to luxury homes and businesses thanks to its state-of-the-art modular microLED display technology. It is an iconic piece of technology that is the perfect fit for an industry legend like Clive Davis."
